It Takes a Village

Wrapping up the fall rowing season in Northern Michigan at the Fountain Point Classic on Lake Leelanau. Sitting here in my friend David's cabin by the fireplace as I type this, thinking about how grateful I am for the rowing community I am privileged to be a part of. I have met some amazing people through the sport of rowing from all walks of life, each connected to the other by their passion for being on the water, and their pursuit of that perfect stroke.
I have grown a lot this year as a rower. Both in sweep boats and in my single scull, I learned some important lessons and made some much-needed changes on and off the water. None of this would have been accomplished without the assistance, wisdom, and watchful eyes of my rowing buddies. Getting out on the water, trying new drills, analyzing video, breaking down the bad form over crispy bacon, all of that is what makes our community so great. It is you guys I think of when I sit down to create a new design. What do we need? What do I wish I had? How can I make it different and better? That is my motivation. You all give me a lot of it, and I am inspired daily by your dedication and hard work. Whatever you are doing, from baking bread to breaking records on the erg, you do it with dedication. So, thanks for a great season, crew!
